The State Duma Does Not Support Aeroflot Ban On Alcohol On-Board

The State Duma plans to develop measures to foster good manners aboard the planes - but the deputies do not want to uphold the ban proposed by Aeroflot on taking liquors on board.

Aeroflot announced the company's plan to withhold the duty-free alcohol until the end of the flight to stop instances of offensive behaviour caused by alcoholic intoxication. We reported on this in November 2012: Duty Free Alcohol May Be Banned From Planes.

Rather than stopping people from taking duty-free alcohol with them, the deputies plan to increase fines for improper behaviour and to introduce "black lists" of serial offenders. The latter may be banned from flights for a period of time following an offense.
