Russia has increased its exports of domestic cars to a total of 113,000 vehicles in 2012, according to a report by the Federal Customs Service. It’s a 77.4 percent rise over the 2011 figures.
In monetary terms, the growth is even higher, with a 2012 tally standing at $988.9 million, which is 2.5 times higher than in 2011.
The CIS countries accounted for the overwhelming majority of cars sold abroad. Only 4,500 units were exported to foreign customers beyond the former Soviet republics.
