Employees in Russian retail stores are three times less efficient than their colleagues in the U.S.
According to a study of the domestic FMCG market made by Sberbank-CIB and quoted by Vedomosti daily, a modern store in Russia has three times more staff than a POS with the same trade floor in America.
The conclusions echo the results of an earlier study by consulting firm McKinsey, conducted in 2009.
Retailers disagree with the verdict. Maria Kurnosova, from the Russian branch of Auchan, says that the customer flow in Russia is significantly higher than abroad, which demands higher numbers of in-store staff.
