QR-Codes Will Allow To Make The Tour Of Tomsk

Two-dimensional matrix barcodes (QR-Codes) with encrypted historical information that can be read by mobile devices will appear on the buildings and monuments of Tomsk that have cultural and historical value.

According to the regional administration, the regional Department of the Youth Policy, Physical Fitness and Sports summed up the contest for the best youth social projects in January 2013. 47 youth initiatives received the funding of 25 to 100 thousand rubles. The highest expert estimation and the maximum funding were received by the four projects, in particular, the Internet project "QR-Tomsk" - 75,000 rubles will be allocated for its implementation. The idea of the project is to place QR-codes on the significant, historical, interesting tourist sites of the city (QR means quick response). Each code will lead to the website providing the information on the site containing the code.
