In a bid to improve road safety, MPs are eyeing a bill that would see all cars driving along Russian roads equipped with an advanced sat-nav system.
ERA-GLONASS, the nationwide system to be deployed soon, operates via a satellite link between an emergency device installed in the car and an official rescue service.
According to a draft law, producers would roll out their vehicles with a pre-installed device starting from 2020. Owners of second-hand cars would have to pay for themselves.
