UEFA would be ready to consider a possible merger of the Russian and Ukrainian championships only after a similar experiment in Belgium and the Netherlands proves to be successful.

According to its official letter, UEFA will make the final verdict after a three-year monitoring, and in case there is mutual agreement between Ukraine’s and Russia’s clubs, federations and leagues. 

The letter was sent after the organizing committee of the future joint league announced on February 18 that it planned to kick off the games in a new format as early as 2015.
