Russia may impose restrictions on meat imports from EU countries in the wake of a horsemeat scandal.
The Russian Hygiene Inspection Agency has set up an ad hoc team that is following the unfolding story and working out a test programme for meat vendors.
The EU authorities have carried out a number of DNA tests, but there may be a point where Russia would be forced to restrict imports, said Gennady Onishchenko, Russia’s chief hygiene inspector.
