The Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was entrusted to prepare the budget of repair works for one of the leading attractions of St. Petersburg - the cruiser "Aurora". According to the preliminary estimates the restoration of the legendary cruiser will take no less than 400 million rubles.

The specialists will recreate the subdivision of the ship and all its functionality. It is expected that the repair works will start in September of this year and will be completed no earlier than in the summer of 2014, during this entire period the cruiser will be closed for visitors.

The specialists declare that it is hardly possible to fully restore the historical look of the cruiser, because the restoration will involve the reconstruction of the conning tower, gun decks, the construction of two steam rescue boats, the installation of three torpedo tubes and two steam engines.
