About 5% of Russian Internet users are buying tours, air and railway tickets on the World Wide Web.
These are the results of the study conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center. The purpose of the study was to find out how many Russians use the Internet, which products to buy online, and which should not be purchased online. The services on tourist and transport sectors were among the top ten most popular in virtual shopping. However, in 2011 the number of Russians who purchased air and railway tickets or tours on the Internet was 2 percentage points higher than in 2012 (7% vs. 5%). It is also noteworthy that 5% of respondents would not risk to buy such services, giving preference to the traditional ways of purchase.
