The authorities of Kuzbass have announced foundation of the 14th specially protected natural area - the nature sanctuary Kuzedeevsky of regional value.
One of the most beautiful corners of the area is in Novokuznetsk District, on the left bank of River Kondoma. The uniqueness of this place is confirmed by scientists, who found out that long time before there had been a sea here. Presently it harbours plants and animals included in the Red List of Threatened Species of Russia. The reserve’s special status forbidding any economic activity on it will help to preserve and study rare species.
It is known that last year a specially protected area - the wildlife area Karakansky in the Belovsky District - was established in the Kemerovo Region for the first time in 20 years.
It was preceded by very long work, including that with coal mining companies, which have at their disposal most of the Karakansky Ridge, with its special climatic conditions and Red List flora and fauna.
In Kuzbass, where the second edition of the regional Red List has just been published, planting of the area will proceed. Last year more than 1.3 million trees were planted, and not less than one million trees are planned to be planted in the year 2013. These newly planted trees will mostly appear on recultivated lands.
