Monuments to 7 outstanding physicists - Nobel prize winners - will be set up in Moscow.
Portrait sculptures of Ilya Frank, Igor Tamm, Pavel Cherenkov, Alexander Prokhorov, Nikolay Basov, Andrei Sakharov and Vitaly Ginzburg will be installed near the checkpoint of Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Leninsky Avenue.
The decision was made by deputies of Moscow City Council, radio Kultura reports.
The TASS informs that an open competition for creation and installation of portrait sculptures will be held. Lebedev Physics Institute is ready to shoulder the burden of expenses of 20 million rubles.
