The Grand Prix of the 18th open Suzdal animation festival goes to Mikhail Aldashin's animated film Immortal from the well-known cycle Mountain of Semi-Precious Stones.
Two more new series of the Mountain of Semi-Precious Stones have won prizes at the festival. Natalia Beryozova's work Tale of Hotan Carpet has gained the jury’s diploma “For a vivid artistic image” and Stepan Biryukov’s animation Gifts of Black Raven has got an award for the best film direction. The director Ivan Maksimov with his philosophical fairy tale Long Bridge in the Right Direction has taken the same award. The jury’s special prize goes to Inga Korzhneva story A Bun and a Birdie about love of a baker giant and a little singer thief.
Julia Aronova’s graphic playful animation My Mother is a Plane has won the prize for the best children’s work. The best debut is Roman Sokolov's film Friends based on the text of an ancient song of the Navajo Indian tribe about indissoluble connection of everything alive on the planet Earth. The best student work is Primitive Father by the graduate of Shar school studio Vladimir Danilov. Soyuzmultfilm studio has got the jury’s special diploma with a request to create new series of the popular cycle Cheerful Roundabout.
Alexander Tatarsky Prize, which is awarded by masters of animation, has been given to Natalia Chernyshyova’s work The Snowflake telling about an African boy who has received in a snowflake a letter from a friend. The same film has taken the award of the Guild of Film Experts and Film Critics of Russia.
Among commercial animation the special jury has distinguished A Million-Worth Baby from Katerina Savchuk’s cycle PIN Code and the animated film Ivan Tsarevich and Grey Wolf, which has become the best full-length film of the festival.
