Alexander Pavlovich Bubnov Art and Ethnography Museum has been opened in the central library of Atkarsk town in the Saratov Region.
The idea of opening the Alexander Bubnov Museum was initiated by the regional specialist Pyotr Trushchelyov. Bubnov's relatives and friends, as well as artists of Atkarsk, Saratov, Moscow and other Russian cities helped to create the museum collection. The museum fund has more than two thousand exhibits: original works by the artist, literature about the artist, and his relatives’ and friends’ presents. Here are his instruments as well: a palette and a brush. The museum regularly holds excursions, exhibitions and meetings.
Alexander Pavlovich Bubnov (1908-1964) was a representative of socialist realism in painting, a master of historical genre. His works are kept in the A.N.Radishchev State Art Museum in Saratov, in art museums and picture galleries of Russia and abroad.
March 4, 2013 marked the 105th anniversary since the birth of this renowned artist.
