Na Lenivke Gallery is holding an exhibition dedicated to portraits with unusual models and stories that can be told about them.
The portraits, which are both painted and drawn, have been brought together from Moscow private collections.
The stories are sometimes written by the model: thus, for example, the stage director and critic Nikolay Evreinov in detail and caustically analyzes his own image performed by Ilya Repin (in the book Original about Portraitists, 1922). Sometimes these stories have been recreated from particles by the modern owners of art works; and The Athletic Young Man by Konstantin Somov turns into a portrait of Boris Snezhkovsky, a young Russian boxer who became the major model of the artist in recent years to his life.
The exhibition runs in the Gallery Na Lenivke till April 27.
