An MP from United Russia is demanding a pay rise after the officials from the Kremlin and the government saw their wages doubled.

Raisa Karmazina, the deputy who proposed the move, has decline to comment.

According to an official record available on the parliament's website, she owns an apartment with 126 sq m, a sizable land plot, a garage and a vegetable storage facility. Her husband owns two apartments.

MPs' monthly pay ranges from 120,000 to 150,000 roubles while senior officials in the government now earn as much as 300,000.
