The State Russian Museum in Petersburg will carry out a large-scale restoration of a lodge of Peter I and his Summer Palace that will cost about billion rubles.
The museum director Vladimir Gusev has reported about the readiness of the Ministry of Culture to finance the project.
“Today marks the 115th anniversary since the opening of the Russian Museum - the first state imperial museum of national fine arts. This is not a good round figure, therefore we have decided to celebrate it not with receptions, but with deeds, - he said. - Besides, a few more anniversaries coincided with this date: the Peter's I Lodge branch turns 310 years old, and the Emperor’s Summer Palace turns 300 years old.
The museum promises to open Stroganov’s Palace and two pavilions- in the Mikhaylovsky Palace upon restoration in the beginning of summer.
