Russian writer Boris Akunin (Grigory Chkhartishvili) has declared that he stops to write detective stories and will create “History of the Russian State” instead.
“Some writers dream of becoming new Tolstoys, others wish to become new Chekhovs. I (it’s time to admit it now) have always dreamed of becoming a new Karamzin”, - the writer explains in his Livejournal blog.
"I cease to be a detective writer. I will certainly finish the series about Fandorin, but the main interest and the main direction of my work is now the multivolume project “History of the Russian State”, - Boris Akunin points out. The first volume, according to the writer, has already been written, it covers the period before the Mongolian invasion.
The writer has promised to accompany the release of every volume of “History” with publication of a “light” book of historical stories, which are set in the same epoch.
