The students of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) have created a computer program which, according to the estimation of its developers, will help people to regain the lost memory, one of the authors of the program Vladimir Osin said. "Total Recall Program is built on the principle of associative thinking - the people are shown different images which can cause some associations. Indeed, people with amnesia, for example, when they are within the familiar walls, can recall something" - he said.
According to Osin`s words, the procedure does not require medication, hypnosis or any other interference with the human psychology. The patients are shown maximum generalized pictures, at the same time their reaction is read by a computer webcam which marks the movement of the pupil. As a result, the computer narrows the "search" in relation to the pictures that caused the reaction. The program is easy to use, it requires only an ordinary computer and a webcam.
