The Rostov Region intends to attract tourists with the cultural and educational opportunities of the region. A special role in this activity will be assigned to the regional archaeological sites and local museums.

This year it is planned to create an exhibition in the open air on the territory of the earth mounds of the Azov fortress. The buildings of tanaits will be reconstructed; the museum and infrastructure objects will be built at the archaeological site "Tanais". The ancient burial structures – tholoses - were found on the territory of Tanais last year. Special pavilions will be constructed above the sensational discovery in the near future. In addition, the authorities want to create a summer theater in Tanais. In order to attract tourists to the regional archaeological sites the option of recreating of ancient buildings and settlements near the excavation is considered. These complexes can not only introduce travelers to historical civilizations, but also become a place of their stay.
