April 5, 2013 will see the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Artists’ Union of Russia in the Big Palace of the Tsaritsyno memorial estate.
This creative organization existed in Russia back in 1903-1923 and united such masters as Viktor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Vrubel, Konstantin Korovin, Nicholas Roerich, Mikhail Nesterov and many other notable painters. In 2008 the Artists’ Union of Russia was reestablished following the same ideas and principles, and again united the best representatives of the Russian realistic painting school.
The forthcoming exhibition in Tsaritsyno is special due to the fact that along with works by current members of the Union, there will be presented paintings by those authors, who continued traditions of this art organization in the 20th century: Alexey Gritsay, Arcady Plastov, Vladimir Stozharov, Nikita Fedosov, and Grigory Chaynikov. Lots of works by these artists will be displayed to general public for the first time.
The exhibition runs till May 26, 2013.
