Due to claims of the Yaroslavl diocese about returning objects of religious function, the Culture Department of the Yaroslavl Region is developing a program on resettlement of museums from former churches and monasteries.
The developed program provides that resettlement of museums from buildings of former churches and monasteries will be happening step by step.
The claim of the Yaroslavl diocese focuses on the two largest museums, such as the Pereslavl-Zalessky Memorial Estate located in the territory of the former Uspensky Goritsky Monastery and the Yaroslavl Memorial Estate based in the former Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery. The latter monastery is known for the fact that this is where from Minin and Pozharsky started off for the rescue of Moscow in 1612. It is known that to the Yaroslavl Memorial Estate will be allocated premises for in the historical downtown.
