Russia has branded 3/4 of its territory as unfit for agriculture in an alleged bid to bypass WTO regulations.
The study done by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture says all but 20 out of 83 regions enjoy favourable conditions for growing crops.
In particular, the Murmansk, Magadan, Kamchatka, Yamalo-Nenets regions have extreme conditions that make it absolutely unfit for agriculture.
With an extensive list like this, Russia seeks to retain its massive state support of the vital sector even after it joined the WTO last year.
