For a few weeks already events dedicated to the 100th anniversary since the opening of the tram route in Volgograd have been taking place in the city. 

      The Volgograd high-speed tram line operating today is Russia’s only line having an underground site constructed according to the subway norms. 

      April 19 will see the unveiling of the first ever tram monument in a city park near the Pobeda movie theater. The monument will be that of the "X" tram series, which used to run in Volgograd around 1929-1967. It is a full-scale tram reconstructed according to sketches and photos and very close to the original: with a tin tram frame and wooden windows.
