Russia's economy may grind down to a halt if no action is taken to stimulate growth, says Economic Development Minister Anton Siluanov.

The warning of a recession comes a day after the ministry downgraded its 2013 GDP forecast from 3.6 to 2.4 percent.

In February, economic growth totaled a mere 0.1 percent, prompting the government to start cautiously talking about a possible downturn.
