A monument to the White army general Lavr Kornilov (1870-1918) has been unveiled at the outskirts of Krasnodar.

The unveiling day – April 13- was chosen not occasionally – it marked the 95th anniversary since the death of the commander of the Voluntary army (during the Civil War) on this very place. Since 1995 Kornilov’s commemorations have been regularly performed in Krasnodar on April 13.

The general’s three-meter high bronze figure has been placed near the Kuban River, next to a small lodge, where General Kornilov died. Lavr is depicted wearing an overcoat over his shoulders, he is sad, and his hair style is a little wild. The authors of the monument are Krasnodar sculptors Alan Kornayev and Valery Pchelin.
