A pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), which is growing in Dmitriyevka Settlement of the Belgorod Region and is 500 years old, has got the wildlife monument status, which will secure its protection.
The long-living oak has a trunk that makes five meters in girth, and the height of the unique tree reaches 35 meters. Thus the 500-year tree is in an excellent condition.
Today Russia has more than 40 trees, which are nature sanctuaries, and more than two hundred of them are included in the register as objects, which can get the conservation status.
