20th jubilee spring exhibition of the Christie's Auction House will be held from April 24 to 26 in Spiridonov's House, Moscow.
The exposition will comprise 25 works of art with the total estimated cost of 75−100 million dollars; many of them will appear in Russia for the first time.
Categories of impressionism and modernism, which are traditional for Russian exhibitions, will present personifications of these trends, such as Pissarro, Matisse and Derain. In the category of works by Old Masters the most expensive exhibit is Jan Steen’s monumental canvass, which is offered for sale for the first time in the last 200 years and is assessed at 7−10 million pounds sterling.
The Russian art is presented by Ilya Mashkov’s Fruit Still Life — one of the most considerable examples of the Russian neoprimitivism of all those that have appeared at auctions in recent years.
