The international corporation of name and number distribution in the Internet ICANN has preliminarily approved the creation of several tens of domain names, including three domains in Cyrillic alphabet: .rus, .site and .online.

These Internet-zones, according to the corporation site materials, can start functioning at the end of April. The application for the domain .rus was submitted by the company “Russkie imena”, registered in Russia. One of the company objects is to widen Russian-language Web-space. The applications for two other domains were submitted by the company CORE Association (”The registrars council of domain names”) that is based in China. Several years ago Russia has become one of the first countries that have got a first level domain in the national language - .rf. Nowadays it is one of the most quick-growing domains in the world.
