Komandorsky Nature Reserve is closed for tourists for a month.

From the 15th of April till the 20th of May at the Komandorsky Nature Reserve in Kamchatka the movement of any land and maritime transport is forbidden, as well as movement of pedestrian groups. Such «silence month» is to provide rest during the period of animals reproduction: polar foxes, deers, sea otters and birds that make nests.

According to the nature reserve representative, during April and May the birds occupy places for nests, it is the period of wild reindeers, insular seals and sea beavers procreation. Disturbance of animals during this period can lead to death of the descendants.
