Billion Rubles to be Spent on Repair of Aurora

Repair of the Aurora cruiser - the symbol of October revolution of 1917, will cost one billion rubles.

This has been stated by the adviser of the St. Petersburg governor, Captain Igor Kurdin. According to him, repair of the ship will be made on extrabudgetary funds, which will be provided by the RF Ministry of Defense. Concrete timescales of the Aurora repair project, according to Kurdin, will be soon established by the Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu.

The authorities plan to have dockside and factory repairs of the cruiser carried out with the maximum possible preservation of its historical look. In addition, Aurora can become a training ship for cadets of the Kronstadt and Nakhimov Naval Schools.
