Petersburg city defenders have addressed supervisory authorities and mass media with a letter appealing to stop demolition of the historical part of Vyborg.
It has been reported by the 47news.ru portal. The demolition of seven houses of the 18th-20th centuries in downtown Vyborg on April 25-27 caused indignation of activists.
In the letter the head of Petrograd regional office of the All-Russian Monuments Protection Society Lyudmila Semykina has declared that monuments and valuable historical environment are being destroyed in Vyborg. According to her data, all demolished buildings were recognized cultural heritage sites.
