Memorial to Lost Bikers Opened Near Izhevsk

A sport bike pressed under a huge wheel on a road-shaped podium has appeared at the intersection of the Shaberdinsky road and a bypass road in Udmurtia.

The monument has been set up here in memory of Ivan Vatlin who has lost here in a bike accident, and its creation was financed by donations of motorcyclists of Izhevsk.

Ivan Vatlin monument has been designed not only in memory of the lost friend. They expect to equip the place around the monument in such a way so that relatives of perished bikers from all over the republic could come here with flowers, candles, and wreaths. In future a memorial board with names of lost motorcyclists will be set up here. And when the project will be finished, the monument will be visible from far away even at night, since the monumental bike has an operating headlight.

The 29-year-old Izhevsk biker Ivan Vatlin was smashed in a road accident on September 9, 2012. A Lada Riva driver did not yield the right of way to the biker. Ivan got fatal traumas in this accident.
