Russia’s getting ready for a changing security situation in Central Asia, and the Kremlin’s far-sighted move to establish a new command within its military drew deserved attention from Foreign Policy.
In an article called ‘Russia's New Tip of the Spear’, Dmitry Trenin praises Moscow’s push for a stronger defense capability to counter mounting challenges of the post-2014 Afghanistan and a possible return of Taliban.
The new Special Operations Command will operate only beyond Russian borders to allow for high precision and short-term campaigns.
