Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Czech Lucie Safarova have defeated Cara Black and Marina Erakovic at the WTA Mutua Madrid Open on Saturday.

Pavlyuchenkova, 21, praised the duo’s ability to preserve concentration and said the victory was down to the lessons they had learned from the past games.

Safarova, 26, said she enjoyed not only playing with Anastasia, but their friendship outside the court.
