Vivat Cinema of Russia! Festival Kicks Off in St. Petersburg Today

 Tonight will see the opening ceremony of the 21st All-Russian film festival Vivat Cinema of Russia! in the Octyabrsky Concert Hall, St. Petersburg. 


      
The festival to be held in St. Petersburg from May 13 to May 19 is a serious review of the Russian movies created in the last year. Within a week the viewers will be able to get acquainted with new works by young and venerable film directors. 

      
The contest program movies will be shown in the movie theaters Aurora (in Peterhof), Druzhba, Zanevsky , Voskhod, Uran, Filmofond, and Moskva in Alexander Nevsky Square, as well as the PEAK movie center. From May 13 to May 19 the viewers will be welcomed at premier film screenings with participation of the film crews, the well-known guests of the festival and retrospectives of the Russian cinema figures.

      
Apart from the contest display there will be Panorama program that aims to introduce  to general public the new domestic movies created with the state support, a special program of the Suzdal Animated Film Festival for presentation of new tendencies in development of Russian animation and a discussion club on the topic "1993: Cinema and Context".
