Bolshoi Theater to Give its First Organ Concert

 The king of musical instruments - pipe organ - will begin to play in the Bolshoi Theater today.


      
In the history of the main Russian stage it will be the first concert entirely dedicated to organ music, the WORLD 24 TV channel reports .

      
Leading musicians of Russia will inhale life in to the new eight-ton pipe organ. The unique instrument has been installed in the Bolshoi Theatre under control of experts in the field of acoustics. It has more than 1800 metal and about 100 wooden pipes.

      
The first organ appeared in the Bolshoi Theater at the end of the 19th century. Since then it has been repeatedly replaced. In the 1970s even an electric organ was installed in the Bolshoi Theatre. But now fans of alive organ music will have a chance to enjoy it in the Bolshoi Theatre.
