Moscow public transport agency, Mosgortrans, is considering a move to ban all passenger vans and to introduce buses with a GLONASS system instead.
The measure aims to divert money from private pockets to the Moscow budget. The passenger van business, while lucrative for its owners, "robs" the official coffers of some 30mln RUB each year and is therefore considered a shady business.
A solution is expected to come in the form of single-colour comfortable buses, equipped with GLONASS system. The authorities first need to study the passenger flow at different times of the day, and after this the routes will be created and set up for a vote. The expers plan to launch more frequent services during a rush hour, which will be changed by less frequent service in other times, and by authorised passenger vans when there is little traffic.
