The “Emerald room” was opened in Yekaterinburg. The exposition called “Three centuries of Ural emerald” started in Yekaterinburg. It became the first step before creating a standing exhibition, devoted to the history of extraction and creating items from this precious stone – “Emerald room”.

Semiprecious stones and jewels form collections of the Hermitage Museum, the Moscow Kremlin Museum, Mineral museum of A.E. Fersman RAS (Russian Academy of Science), the Museum of stone-cutting and jewel art and also from private collections are presented in the exposition. The very first emeralds extracted in Ural in the middle of the XIX century are also presented in the “Emerald Room”.
