The Estonian government has given the go-ahead to the draft treaty on border delimitation with Russia, according to the ERR news agency.
According to it, the new document is still due to be signed by the Foreign Ministry and approved by the parliament.
Earlier, the Estonian FM hailed the consultations with Russian counterparts as successful.
The new treaty would add two clauses to the original document, stipulating that it ‘regulates solely the path of the border and ruling out territorial claims,’ reads the news agency’s article.
This is seen as a major breakthrough since 2005 when a controversial clause added by Estonian MPs to the first draft in the last minute provoked an angry response from Russia.
