On the site of a future office building Azov archeologists have found a cellar of a 14th century merchant house. It was harbouring several hundred mutton shoulder blades, which belonged to a prophet, as experts assume.
"In the Middle Ages astragalomancy was very popular. Sorcerers wrote questions on them, threw them into fire and depending on the location of appearing cracks they interpreted this or that event. We have never faced similar finds before, especially with such quantity. All the items have been carefully withdrawn and transferred to our museum”, the head of Archeology Department of the Azov Historical, Archaeological and Paleontological Memorial Estate Andrey Maslovsky reported.
