Exhibition on Cyril and Methodius Opened in Moscow

The Russian Icon Museum has opened the exhibition In the Beginning There Was a Word… dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the Moravian mission of Sts Cyril and Methodius.

The exhibition will present nearly a hundred icons, several dozens of Russian medieval and old believers’ manuscripts from museum collections. A special section of the exhibition consists of icons, engravings and drawings, and even works of medal art with images of Sts Cyril and Methodius. Gathered together, these most rare exhibits for the first time demonstrate the history of iconography of Slavic educators in New Time.

The exhibition is held in the framework of solemn celebration of the Days of Slavic Writing and Culture.

The exhibition runs till July 21, 2013.
