90 Percent of Russian Computer Users Are Gamers

A total of 87 percent of Russian Internet users are playing computer games monthly, most of them are women and the average age of a gamer is 34 years, a recent survey reveals.

      According to the survey, computers are still the most popular devices for playing games with 87 percent of of respondents preferring them. However, 52 percent said they used smart phones to play games, while 48 percent preferred tablets for this purpose. The most popular game console in Russia is Sony PlayStation, the least popular is Nintendo.

      The majority of gamers in Russia are women with 54 percent of them playing games monthly against 46 percent of men, the survey said, adding that women usually prefer playing on-line games provided by social networks. The average age of a gamer in Russia is 33-34 years, most of the gamers are "white collars" or students.

      According to the survey, most of the respondents said they spent less than one third of their free time playing computer games monthly. They said computer games helped them to take their minds of routine, train brain skills and reaction.
