At the end of May an archaeological expedition of the Kulikovo Field memorial estate launched salvage archaeological studies on a site of office building in 1, Metallistov Street in Tula.
The works are now in a closing stage and archeologists have been reporting about unique finds.
The area of future construction makes only 300 sq.m, however even in such a small place archaeologists have succeeded to discover many new things from the history of Tula in the remote 17th century. Among them there are remains of several houses found. One of them turned to be a potter’s workshop with a variety of craft products intended for sale: spindle whorls, fishing nets plumbs, penny whistles, rattles, candlesticks, small clay flat dishes for economic needs and, of course, pots, jugs and bowls. Along with pottery, there were bone carved items, such as combs and knife handles on sale in the workshop.
