Most of the Russian funds stored in Cypriot banks have come from money laundering and corruption, says a study.

      According to research by three international scientists, including Svetlana Ledyaeva from Russia, at least €30 billion has been diverted away from the Russian economy via Cuprus over the past 20 years.

      The money coming from Russia account for at least a third, or even half, of all the deposits of the Cypriot banks, the research says.
