The administration of Moscow has come up with a new way to save monuments from destruction. The Department of Cultural Heritage of Moscow offers to move monuments to the museums, and put copies on their place. In particular, the sculpture of horses in the Triumph Arc will be replaced by copy. The sculpture is made from cast iron, which is highly resistant to corrosion. Today the monument is in aggressive environment due to large concentration of vehicles. Protective cover cannot save the cast iron; in that case the sculpture will crumble from within.
There are many sculptural groups in Moscow that cannot be protected by any chemical coating. Those monuments that remain in their place will be protected by using advanced technologies. Some sculptures have been already applied a special protective nanocoating.
