A cannonball weighing about 200 g and about 5 cm in diameter has been found in the course of digging in Komsomolskaya Square in Shuya.
The cannonball is made of iron and, according to the expedition head Olga Nesmiyan, is supposedly dated to the 16th century. It is not the only find for the first days of the expedition work.
It is not the first time that excavations under the leadership of Olga Nesmiyan and with assistance of history students take place in Shuya. According to archeologists, the number of finds speaks for the fact that Shuya is not younger than the ancient Russian town Kineshma and Ples.
