Three mathematicians of St. Petersburg University decided to defend their doctoral thesis in the new format of BHD, approved in March by the Academic Council of the university. 

The new format supposes that the defence will be in English. There will be 7 opponents, not 20, as in the  PhD thesis defence. And there are different requirements in terms of work - 30 pages compared to 150 in the conventional PhD thesis. In a compressed form the main findings are to be set out and the main discussion should occur during the defence, that according to the regulations should last half an hour. One of the most important requirements of a new format is the availability of publications in the international scientific magazines.
