Youth Theater Closed in St Petersburg Due to Complaints of Neighbors

Arbitration Court has imposed a ban on activities of the MIG Youth Center for Theatrical and Motion Picture Arts known as ON. THEATRE.

      
Checks revealed in a basement on st. of Zhukovsky, 18 numerous violations of fire safety and sanitary and epidemiologic norms, in particular excess of admissible noise level. 

      
The youth theatrical directors’ laboratory ON.THEATRE was founded by the MIG center and the Lensovet Theater in 2009. In 2011 the ON.THEATRE acquired its own repertoire and stage. Many independent theatre companies that were winners of various awards appeared on the stage of the theater.

      
According to some information, the theater started to be prosecuted after noise complaints lodged by one of the house dwellers, the police major general’s wife Nadezhda Bykova, who filed appeals to the Russian consumer protection agency Rospotrebnadzor, prosecutor's office and fire inspection.
