Andrei Rublevs Works to be Checked for Authenticity

The RF Culture Ministry is going to arrange expertise of the works attributed to the world-famous icon painter Andrei Rublev.

80 paintings are planned to be sent for examination. 

The need to check Andrei Rublev’s works for authenticity was ripe long ago, experts say. The idea of the great master’s creativity of is based today only on studies by art critics. But there is no exact data on the technique and technology of painting by Andrei Rublev, as well as other artists of that epoch.

The Culture Ministry allocates 600 thousand rubles for the expertise. It plans to check for authenticity other artists of the 14th-16th centuries.
