The Private Collections Department of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts has opened an exhibition of works by the outstanding Russian sculptor Lazar Gadayev (1938–2008) timed to the 75th anniversary since his birth.
Lazar Gadayev is one of the most vivid and original sculptors of the late 20th-early 21st centuries. The works by the sculptor with special plastic thinking represent a rare alloy, in which traditions of national sculpture of Ossetia are blended with both the medieval Christian tradition, and practice of the European sculpture of the 19th-20th centuries.
The exhibition presents 46 works by the master, among them sculptural compositions of two last decades, as well as a series of reliefs The Way of the Cross.
